Thai food is Gluten free. How to Control the Remote and shut the spouse up.

Just got back from Thailand (Yes! Again! but no BKK this time..t'was KohSamui & ChiangMai) and Hong Kong. One of my best, most lazy trips ever. Consisted of Food..lots of food..lots of alcohol. The Sun.The Surf. The Sand. Had some yum new things which I cant wait to try out:- Pad Ka Prao- minced chicken with holy basil & sticky rice. A Mojito that I named Thailand in a Glass. The most amazing Chicken Dimsums doused in Soy & Garlic in a small Cantonese restaurant in HK (you absolutely CANNOT kiss anyone after this! No.Not even your mother.Definitely not your spouse.Trust me.).

The awesome thing about Thai food is, much of it consists of curries to be had with rice and rice noodles. It makes things so much easier as the Husband and I are trying to be Gluten Free. No, we are not intolerant, its just healthier. The Dimsums are obviously not gluten free, so those will need to wait.

The other yum stuff we tried was
Chiang Mai style Khao Soi, which has a thinner curry, than the coconut curry style we get here. Its incredibly spicy and topped with fried rice/egg noodles and coconut is not the star-flavour of the dish. We tried it first in a small hole in the wall joint at the steps of the Doi Suthep Temple and then at the Shangrila where we were staying, and I must say both were insanely good! The Husband  refused to accept that the first place served us authentic ChiangMai Khao Soi and argued with me that I had no clue about food anymore, till we had a similar tasting one at our Hotel albeit 10 times more expensive.
Really. The amount of money I  have to spend to prove myself right, makes me wonder if I should even bother anymore! There's this saying which applies to me: "If you're wrong and you shut up, you're wise. If you're right and you shut up, you're married!"

Massaman Curry, which is a red mutton and potato curry made with peanuts, very similar to our South Indian Mutton Curry. Its a specialty of the Muslim-Thai people and is absolutely divine. I had this whenever I craved theekha curry rice.

Tapioca, Mango & Coconut Pudding. Thai desserts are really not that fascinating, besides Tub Tim Krob, that too only from *surprise*surprise* Thai Pavilion, President,Bombay. Not the one you get in Thailand. But this Tapioca Pudding was really quite good.

Every single meal we had in HK was incredible!

So now we're back, with excess baggage..no not shopping..and its time to get back to diets, work and all things real life.Boooooring.

The Husband has already started his usual...Want.Good.Food.Not.Indian.You.Cook.

Dutiful that I am, I did what most good wives' should do when such requests are made and/or orders are given..Shop.Alot. (ok not really.. the Sindhi in me conflicted out the wife in me.) but you should.Seriously. Every time your spouse makes such demands, annoys you or makes you do any sort of work other than the work you are already forced/cajoled/coerced into, do something to make them shut up.The Husband forces me watch South Indian dubbed movies when I apparently annoy him.EVERY.SINGLE.TIME.
I cook. He shuts up.And eats It.All.And wants More. *And then I change the channel*
Works for us.
